The Terroir

The vineyard of Château de Fonbel is located in the Saint Emilion plain and covers 16 hectares (39 acres).

 

The soils are sandy-gravelly.  4 grape varieties are grown : Merlot (70%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%), Petit Verdot (7%) and Carmenere (3%).
